Estate Planning & End of Life Directives

Death is not always easy to talk about but it is an inevitable part of life. We may be able to postpone death but we will never be able to avoid it. Those things we cannot change we must accept. We can't control death but we can plan for it and the have peace of mind that we are leaving our affairs in order, leaving a legacy not a mess.

Taking care of your family is what estate planning is about.  When you plan ahead and make decisions in advance you help your family and loved ones deal with legal issues at a time when they are least able to do it on their own.

Estate Plannng Documents

Advance Directive for Healthcare:  This document provides medical staff and your loved ones with instructions about your care as well as who should make the decisions about your health care if you are no longer able to.

Durable Power of Attorney for Financs: This allowes someone you trust to handle your financial and legal affairs, while you are alive if you can't.  Your Agent will be able to sign documents, handle insurance, contract, access your bank account and pay your bills.

Will:  Allows you to decide who gets your stuff after you die. You appoint the person you trust to handle the distribution of your estate, no matter how small or large.  For more information click here

Trusts: A trust allows your property to transfer after your death without any court intervention or probate.  You choose who your beneficiaries will be as well as your trustee during your life and after your death. Trusts can be revocable or irrevocable. You can also use a trust to insure that someone with special needs continues to receive the care they need even when you are not there anymore.  For more information click here.
